A Proposed Model for Professional E-Mail Groups

by Ian Pitchford

In the beginning.........

What can InterPsych do?

           *******************                *******************
           *    Externally   *                *   Self-         *
           *    Organized    *    PARADIGM    *   Organizing    *
           *    Systems      * -------------->*   Systems       *
           *                 *     SHIFT      *                 *
           *    (Passive)    *                *   (Active)      *
           *******************                *******************

InterPsych's main contribution will be the continued espousal of the likelihood of a synergistic effect, leading to new ideas as to the workings of the human brain/mind and the solution to the problem of mental suffering, resulting from the interaction of those engaged in research and clinical practice in psychiatry and clinical psychology, together with those involved in cognitive science, anthropology, philosophy, neuroscience, artificial intelligence and computer science, neurology, etc, in the contect of a multicultural, multimedia environment on the Internet.

In practical terms InterPsych will provide:

International co-ordination
Co-ordination of English speaking groups
Tools such as software, educational material...
Inspiration and direction
Central organization through the IVC
An emphasis on practical creativity
Infrastructure to channel individual talents to meet universal needs
A Paradigm?
            >---- * Problem
            |     * Communication
            |     * Provocation
            |     * Lateral Thinking
            ----< * Solution

One definition of lateral thinking:

"You can't dig a different hole by digging deeper in the same place"

I would like to leave you with one final provocation so I am delving into my dictionary now:

PO, organizations are fantasy organizations:
-- fantasy, n. imagination; thing(s) imagined; fanciful design, fantastic.

What could this mean? Please let me have your thoughts.

Regards,
Ian Pitchford
